11 Tips for Shooting Travel Stock Photography to Make Money

October 10, 2019 By Good Glass Leave a Comment

Breaking into the stock photography industry can be tough since the market already appears to be over-saturated, but there are a few tips that photographers can follow to get their pictures noticed, and purchased, by potential clients. The photographers should explore new angles, add people into their stock photos (pending a release form), and even leave room for customers to write their own text on the photos. There are plenty more tips, but the most important rule to follow is to always treat the process like a business.

Key Takeaways:

  • Incorporating people into stock photographs can make them unique, allowing them to stand apart from all the other stock photos.
  • Stock photos should be taken in both portrait and landscape mode, so clients can choose which format they would like to purchase.
  • To be successful in selling stock photos, it’s important to get fresh takes on normal photos, so explore all the angles.

“The key to being a successful travel stock photographer is to treat it like a business as much as possible.”
