5 Signs You’ve Over Edited a Photo

March 26, 2020 By Good Glass Leave a Comment

Editing a photo is an essential part of the process, you need to make photos look better by telling a story in the photo, and some photos need more care than others. There are five signs that you have over edited your photo, you may have chosen the right editing tool, but if you over use it then your photos are going to end up looking unrealistic. Like, too much contrast for example, can make the dark shadows look too unrealistic.

Key Takeaways:

  • Contrast or the difference in exposure of areas of the photograph can become too large on an over editing picture.
  • Like too much contrast, too much saturation is a tell tale sign that someone has spend too much unnecessary effort on a picture.
  • Another sign of too much editing are color tones that appear out of place or unnatural to the human eye. This will stand out and seem weird to the normal person even if they can identify the problem.

“Having too much color can be very distracting, though. Pull your saturation to -100 to remove all of the colors from your photo, then gradually pull it to the right until it’s properly saturated.”
