5 Signs You’ve Over Edited a Photo

August 12, 2019 By Good Glass Leave a Comment

Editing photos are a great way to enhance photography. However, sometimes an over-edited photo can be a deal breaker. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell whether or not you’re guilty of over editing. The first sign is that there is too much contrast, or too many darks and whites in a photo. The second sign is that the photo is oversaturated, and needs to be toned down. It’s also wise to keep an eye on photo exposure, because too much can lead to too many bright spots. On the other hand, a “crunchy” photo makes it hard to tell where the colors in the photo blend together. Finally, keep an eye on tones and always make sure the hues are natural and realistic-looking.

Key Takeaways:

  • Having too much color in a photo is a sign of over-editing.
  • A well-edited photo should not have too much “white” portions in it.
  • Photo tones should be natural and realistic looking to avoid too many highlights.

“Applying too much contrast to an image can leave your shadows looking very dark and unrealistic.”
